Default Skater outing

Since Ron is bored and wants some pics up, here's a few of the first weekend back out in my first 28 (I originally purchased back in 2001) that I recently bought back to hold me over while my 30 is back at Skater still. We did a 200 mile run with Rob in his 30, Bryon in my last 28, and we even ran into Dan in his new DW28. I love the pic of Dan in his new DW28 floating next to Bryon who now owns his old Skater 28 (the one I bought from Dan in 2013). Anyway, this one's for Ron......

That was a great run to Sacramento, my wife and Melissa & Kevin had a blast too. Good thing we only had a few drinks once the boats were parked...............

Hey Buddy, Great shots. Glad to see someone out having fun!
How did the two 28's run side by side? Need to send Rob the pick of your old boat with 15" s.
He is wondering how it would sit in the water. Had a few extra people though.
Thanks for thinking of me LOL

Any time Ron! Lol

And funny you bring up how the 15"s sit in the water, as I had to scold Bryon for not following my directions back when he bought the boat from me. He was sitting with the motors trimmed in, and I had to remind him to always trim the motors full-up when off-plane. He was full of fuel, with four large people in the boat, and lucky the water was flat and no big cruisers went by while he was sitting there with the motors trimmed in. You'll notice in pics from when I owned it, the motors are always trimmed full-up when not on plane.

And the two 28s run very similar speeds. Speed Racer is not rigged as light and has old '98 300PMs with 15 year old Merc humpback cleavers (15" x 34" 4 blades), my old 28SS is lighter with brand new 250XSs and Bob's old labbed 15.5" x 34" 4 blade Merc humpback cleavers. I got 107 out of Speed Racer with the two of us in it and about 70 gallons of fuel on board. When we first re-rigged the 28SS with the 250s, Bryon and I ran 107 as well, with about the same amount of fuel on board. If I owned the 28SS still with the 250XSs on it, I'm certain I'd get it into the teens with a DBR tune and a set of Dewalds. And I'm also just as certain that I could get Speed Racer into the teens if I were going to keep it, just by putting it on a diet (get rid of the 100#s of Optimas up under the bow and toss the big stereo I put in it back when I was only 30 years old!) and dialing it in with a set of Dewalds.

What is the boat "Another One" in the pic's? It looks a tad small but has fantastic lines.

Was more interested in the comparisons with the DW 28'?

Another One is Dan's new 28 Doug Wright with 300XS. It's a rocket.

Dan's boat will run in the high teens and has not been played with since he picked it up. Dale and he are supposed to go out this weekend and change some things. I am confident that the boat will run low to mid twenties once its set up to its full potential. We are waiting on the new windshield mold and dash mold to finish the next two DW 28s and we will be posting test results as they happen.

Thanks for the pictures Dale-I still love that 28 that you and Dan had...beautiful.

Joe
