setback
 

has anbody had much luck with or try setback more then 6 inches

I'll be installing six inches in January.The reason I'm doing 6 is because they were free.If I had 8 or 10 inces of set back I would probably try that before 6 ,but free is a good price.I'm hoping for 3mph with 6" of set back.The speed will come from the set back and the ability to put the prop shafts above the bottom by 1/2 an inch or so.Do you have 6 now?Where are your prop shafts in relation to the bottom of your boat?I think I'll start out with even with the bottom?

i've got six inches of plate the nose cones are about a inch
down from the bottom.

I can't remember what size Skater you have.Anyway,I think you should try coming up at least 1".This alone could be as much as 4mph on the top end.
