What to use to fix nicks in epoxy hull
2001 28 Skater. "Standard high-gloss base color - white" and "Epoxy & vacuum bagged construction"
What do I use to fix small nicks in the hull? |
Come on folks!
I don't have the luxury of handing it to a fiberglass shop, because we don't have any. I need to do it myself. What should I use?__PRESENT |
First of all I'm not a pro but if it's epoxy then you'd need to scuff the area around it a bit to give it something to bite to then if it's just a nic fill it with new epoxy (I'd recommend West System or some other quality epoxy not the 2 gallons for $25 stuff from ebay). Depends on how big a spot we're talking about, if it's just a little nic then just epoxy would probably be fine if it's a little bigger add a filler to the epoxy. Once it's dry sand it out and fix the paint.
If it's down to the mat or core that's a different ballgame and you'd want to get a different opinion. |

That would be perfect...

If it is a factory white skater white marine Tex works well. You can wet sand it down in steps ending in 1500 and buff it.

Thanks a lot!
I might actually have found a guy who can do the job. |
Gelcoat
By the way, does Skater use polyester gelcoat, or epoxy gelcoat?
