skater 28 .... fuel tanks !

Hi!

Ihave got hold of a second hand Skater 28 pleasure version. It has to be re-rigged completely with new interior and steering. I will have two 200 Pro Max's in it.

the thing is, the boat came out with out fuel tanks or any lead to the original location of them .

so what is recommended for fuel capacity and location and if possible , dimensions :)

um.........SKATER has almost alway come with the tanks built as part of the boat. If not I would use ATL fuel cells along side of the seating area in the sponsons.

The fuel tanks are glassed in,mine are in each sponson behind and under the back seat.I think the tanks are actually fiberglass themselves.

the guy i bought the boat from used it as a race only boat so he had every thing striped behind the driver seating area and used a different fuel setup as he was racing , so i could get custom fuel cells and need to know the capacity and exact location of them :)

Never personally heard of this set-up but if it was a race boat, which one. With the knowledge here on this board Im sure someone will know first hand what was done.
Not sure why they would not use the Skater design.

Re: skater 28 .... fuel tanks !

My 24 comes with fuel tanks built in to the boat.Sixty gallons on each side. The 28 is the same.Even though the previous owner had external tanks I would use the tanks built into the boat. These tanks are also baffelled.I would bet that Douglas Marine built the boat with those tanks. My only concern would be if the tanks have the special coat on the inside to hold gas.Call Douglas Marine and give them the hull ID to see about the tanks. Then just drill a couple of holes for the pick up and senders.
