31ss Transducer location??

Looking to glue a transducer to the inside hull, it says that it shouldn't be mounted any greater than 10 degrees. I think the 31 is a 23 or 24 degree cut. Has anyone mounted one over the chine on the outer portion of the hull? Not sure how much air gets under the chine, if any at all since it's not stepped. Any other ideas on where to glue it in?

Most companies make a transducer that is angled.
You may have to special order it.

Mine was glued to the bottem right next to the center stringer under the starboard motor. It was installed by sonic.

Hey, great news, mine hangs off the rear transom and is always messed up! GoFo4broke, is your Depth Finder angled? What brand? Any details would be great.

I was going to mount the gps on the flat section above the driver dash panel, but as I'm planning to redo the driver dash, I'm thinking that if I move the gages around, I can make room to mount the gps flush into the driver dash.

Do you think flush mounting the gps into the dash will be a sun glare issue?

CBR,
The $850 original equipment depth was a POS Teleflex. It had a flat transducer. I replaced it with a Lowrance, glued the transducer just aft of the original (which has since come loose). Works fine. I have installed many depth finders on many different boats and never did anything fancy for the transducers. Just be sure to get the bubbles out of the epoxy.

Thanks Go4Broke!

East Coast B, check out my website for shots of my Raymarine 425 chartplotter mounted on a metal window opening arm clamped to the right side of the outsidecabin entrance. Works okay, looks better than messing up the dash. I think the 2002 Approaching Manhattan harbor photo shows it fairly well.

Sonic installed mine somewhere near the gas tanks. The problem is it can't read thru the cored hull so it has never worked. I'm looking for the angled unit also.

Re: 31ss Transducer location??

The manual has a good idea. Says to fill the bilge in the area of application with water and set the transducer in place you want to use it and test it to see if it can transmit through the hull. Going to try it out. I'm just going to plug one of the drain holes that is right in front of the engine in the bilge, fill the area forward with with water and do the test.... boat is in the shop for full enclosure and we're taking the convertible to Savannah, Orlando and Tampa for 9 days, so It'll be a while until I can get to it.

While I was in the bilge area, realized the float switch is no longer connected to it's mounting plate. It's so far back, I can't reach it to repair it. Need to hire a mini me!!!! Need an access panel on the transom! Make oil changes easier also!!!! hehehhehehhee!! Anyone got a 4' long screwdriver??? Any ideas??
