Sonic Satisfaction

Wondering how u Sonic fans like your boats? Hulls, paint, fit, finish, any "quircks"? Interested in a 35 1997 or newer. Love the look and cabin features. Also looking at a Formula 336. Anyone go from a Formula to Sonic? Any info would be helpful.

Yep, go with the Sonic. Went from a 357 Formula to a 42 Sonic.

We just bought our 97 42 sonic. The hull, now I know why it is so heavy. I had to drill a hole in the inner linner to mount my flat screen tv, man it was thick. The ride is to kill for, I our fountain we had to slow down for big sport fish wakes or barge wakes, know we just turn in to them and go right thru them. You will give up speed if you buy a sonic there are not many other boats out there with the cabin.

More room, especially the stand up head. Better ride, though not as fast, but more comfortable. The only downside was the size of the cockpit. The walkaround on the Sonic takes away from the width in the cockpit, BUT it does have a lot of advantages, especially when tying up. Once you are used to it then get on a boat without it you see what I'm talking about.

We have had three of the 40+ Sonics:

Thanks 43thunder,
good to hear about the ride. As for speed I'm comparing the sonic to a formula 336 wich is a non-stepped hull, so I'm not sure the formula would be any slower than a 35 sonic? I think the weights are comparable. I understood a formula is also considered a "heavy" boat?

Terrific pics by the way! One other question, any "little problems" with the sonic? You know, nickel and dime stuff like head problems, upholstery, things coming loose, etc?

Re: Sonic Satisfaction

The Sonic is also a non stepped hull. In 2002 Sonic removed the notch in the transom. My 2001 358 had a few cosmetic things but Sonic stepped up and fixed everything. Our 2005 386 had a few switches fail,Sonic took care of them also. This was with a boat bulit by the former owners and the new owners did the right thing and fixed without a fight.
