Getting AIR?
 
I see all these pictures of Sonics launching off waves. :evilb: Is this phenomina (sp?) mainly a Sonic "thing" or is it pretty prevalent in offshore boating? Really not being a smart a$$, but I live in Phoenix/no big water and love the Sonic 35. Not to sound naive, I know Sonic has an outstanding hull strength history, but are these boats built with getting serious air in mind? Do u get stress cracks up the ying-yang from doing this all the time?

One other question, is the 38 Sonic more popular than the 35? If so, why?

I have a 31 and 386...any boat will catch air off the right wave.The pics you refer to are awesome and caught at that"right time".I would love to have a pic of either of mine like that but seldom find the right conditions and then no camera man.Solid boat and takes a lot to get it out of the water.As far as difference between 386 and 35 is huge but 386 and 358 hardly any. The 358 is identical to the 386 except a little more cockpit space and longer engine comp.The older 35 model is very similar to the 31.Hope my .02 helps :drink:

This is somewhat true. I had a 1995 35 which was called the 35 SS. The 35 SS cabin is similar to the 31 in that it does not have 6' of headroom, however the cabin is longer than the 31's cabin. The cockpit is MUCH bigger in the 35 SS than in the 358, but not quite as big as the cockpit in the 386.

I thought the 35 had 6' of headroom in the cabin. That is one of the things I am looking for, or at least as close to 6' as I can get. I must have seen the 358, because it had 6'.

I had a 1997 35 SS and I remember the headroom was about 5'8" or 5'9" at the galley. I'm 6'2" and I had to duck down pretty good.
