winterizing sinks ?

turned on water pump and drained cabin sink and head sink and transom shower, put about 4 gallons of anti freeze (pink stuff) in fresh water fill tank, turned on water pump again and turned on cabin sink but nothing is coming out ? did the pump loose it's prime ? any ideas?

Is there an inline filter before the pump inlet?

It is possible. Try pressurizing the fresh water tank. Try hooking up a powerful shop vacuum on the and blowing air into the tank from the fill location, and turn on the water pump.

If you know where the water pump is, disconnect the inlet from the tank, and lower it into the bilge, as long as it is 'downhill' from the tank, it should flow AF freely. If not, try this while blowing into the tank with the shop vac.

Hey Tony,

Looks like you lost the prime in the water system. There is a fix and it's pretty easy when you just want to refill with water. But since you are winterizing and don't want to waste all that AF, try having someone pour another bottle of antifreeze down the fill hole and then while they are pouring, you run the transom shower to pull the AF through and reprime it.

If that doesn't work, wrap a rag around the garden hose nozzle, turn it on high and stuff it in the fill hole while trying to make a seal around the fill hole. Then have someone turn on one of the sinks or the transom shower. You are trying to push the water in with enough force to prime the pump again.

Then you will have to drain the water again and put more AF in. DON'T drain ALL of the water out. Stop when you hear it about to start sputtering.

Good luck,

Brian
