358 Questions

Just picked up my 2004 35 in April and have been running on the Chesapeake Bay for the past month or so. Prior to this I had a 28 Donzi ZX and I am still getting used to the new one. I just have a few questions that may be particular to Sonics. Questions are as follows:

- Noticed that the refrigerator was running even though both the 110v breaker and the 12v switches were in the off position. Is this normal or could it be wired incorrectly.

- Is there a fuse/breaker panel for 12v accessories such as cockpit and bilge lighting and where is it located?

- DVD player stopped working after a couple trips and will not power up. I haven't had a chance to diagnose the problem yet but where would be the best place to start?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Frig running with switches and breakers off is not right. There should be an adjustment knob to turn it off completely so as to not kill the batteries. That should be checked.

Fuses are under the dash

DVD player. Check for power first

Thanx...turned the fridge to 0 and will pull the DVD player on Monday.

One last thing

How do you clean the sea strainer for the A/C?

Unscrew the cap on top

The DVD player plug came lose from the back. The refrigerator seems to be hooked directly to galley power (switch in cabin panel not hooked to anything). Also DVD player has power all the time and TV has power with cabin power switch from helm despite both switches on cabin panel??? Unscrewed the top of the sea strainer (all clean).

Finally, it may seem simple but I am having a problem with the fresh water flush. I think I have a low pier water pressure problem when trying to flush. Obviously if I do not start the engine while flushing then I am only flushing the drive and nothing past the impeller. I guess because there is not check valve in the hose (just T'd in) I do not have enough water pressure to feed the impeller. Should I buy a stronger garden hose (the current hose begins to collapse when turned on)? Do I need to try and increase water pressure at the dock? Any other suggestions?

Smitty,
Congrats on your boat.
Your fridge should be connected to the 12volt galley circut with the 12volt fridge switch also. Thats how our 2001 358 and our 2005 386sts is wired.
Your fresh water flush sounds like low water pressure as long as this happens with the engine at idle.

Same Power...love em'...boat runs great...had it up to 76 mph on gps at 5000 rpms on Saturday. I figure I can squeeze a few more out with less fuel etc.

Make sure you check the hoses in the bilge mine had crimps in them so i had to shorten them this was a screw up from the factory. Saw you fly by my creek the other day on the Severn River sounded good and looked good
