22' Sonic

Does anyone have any info on the 22' sonics. I am looking at a 2003 with a 250 outboard. Speed, handling, ride etc. Thanks in advance!

There've been a couple of good discussions about these boats over the years...I don't know if the search feature will bring them up.
Cool runabout/ski boat. Very solid construction. Cockpit(surprisingly deep) like a mini sit-down race boat w/center throttle & shift. Shallow-vee bottom = quick plane and lots of acceleration w/ decent stability. Outboard power versions are fairly rare...that '03 must've been about the last one. Fun boat when used as intended.

The guy told me that he bought it new in 2005 or 2006 but it was a 2003.

22 sonic

I had a 22 sonic a few years back.
Was the I/O model (sporster) with 350 mag mpi engine
and Bravo I.
Fun boat, made well and was pretty quick but did
not like any kind of choppy water.

I want one for my little boat. It's a lot cooler than my 17' Galaxy Shooting Star!

hi
i own a 220 sportster since '05 and had a lotta fun since then with it.
it is the boat tested in the '97 powerboat mag, 454mpi bravo, no cabin setup.
i changed engine an have a 500+ mill under the hatch right now. she does easy 80+, have seen 87 on the speedo at cold weather.

yeah, she has a deep cockpit and i feel save in the boat.
you still need balls to go that fast, more ball as you get more chop.

she gets realy free at speeds 60+ and chop is no problem - as long you can hold the speed.
if you go slower, you gonna feel the boat does not like it.

i have a 1:36 bravo and spin a 24 pitch 4 blade up to 5800 rpm, nose cone, imco add on steering, stainless marine exhaust, manual trim and drive indicators, and victory trim tabs (280 k plane size)

see pics and story at http://evaliese.homestead.com/elcamino.html

Hey Hugh, do you remember this boat? The picture was taken in front of Al Millers shop. We sold a few of these 22's back in the day!:D They were fun to drive!
