Sonic Model 358 experiences???
 

Anyone have experience with the Sonic 358??? Saw one at Miami Show and really liked it. I'm familiar with the ride on the 386, wondering how much difference there would be with the 358 ride? What power will give me what speeds? Likes, dislikes?

I'm not looking for a used model! I was speaking with the factory guys and took a tour of the factory and learned of their new hull process which will decrease the weight of the boat, beginning with the 2002 models. That is the hull I would be interested in.

I met a guy on the Hudson River with a 2000 358 with 500 EFI's He ran 82 on GPS.

I own a 2001 358 s/ w/500efi. I run a true 78 on Gps. We sea trialed the boat in Fla and got 79gps on salt water. I do not believe that the boat is capable of 82 as suggested.

The boat is a brick house, solid all the way through. In rough stuff you will not be dissapointed. I know that I considered the 386 but with the same power you will be 73-75, more money and all for 2 feet 10 inches. Also, the 358 and 386 are indetical from the bolsters forward, same foredeck and cabin. You lose the space in the cockpit and sunpad-engine room. If I were going to buty the 386 I definitely would opt for bigger power like the 575 sc's.:D

Looney Tune - What type of options do you have on your 358 for overnighting? Does the 358 have alot of storage space and how is it for overnighting?

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.:( Any how, the V berth is a little tight. We have an insert that allows for comfortable sleeping where the lounges are. Plenty of stand up room. You have to take a look to see. Good luck.
