Uneven gas level ??
 

Anyone else notice that one tank empties faster then the other one...... I run a 358 with twin 575's and one gauge always drops faster then the other......then when I fill up that tank takes more fuel.....that rules out the gauges......anyone else see this......

yes I noticed it also!! Why is that ? Which side is always less, port or starboard ?

Starboard side goes lower quicker......

Especially with carb motors, one will always drink more than the other. I have a pair of 496HOs, and also experience the same thing, but only about a 10 gallon difference over several outings.

Also, your fuel level senders are not a perfect science. For a more accurate reading, upgrade to the Livorsi electronic level senders vs. the gravity/float senders you have now.

My gauges read 1/4 tank different, but with 496ho's I have nearly identical comsumption. It's easier to live with the innacuracy than it is to fix them. When I had carb motors, there was about a 10 gallon difference in consumption per tank.

Yes the starboard side alwats shows about a 1/4 tank less .anyone know why sonic did'nt make there boats with just 1 gas fill instead of 2 seperate fills ?

Mine is off due to two engines out of one tank and one out of the other. Funny thing is though they are not off by much, even after a fill up.

Two fills vs single?? One fill is for each tank. With the tanks on each side of the center stringer it is easier to replace one tank if needed and easier to run two fill lines than just one. If that makes any sense :D:D

which gas fill does what tank?

Forward fill for Starboard tank?
Rear fill for Port?

or viceversa?

We will be on the Mississippi this weekend. La Crosse area on Saturday and near Alma on Sunday if you are around.

I'll be a long distance from you on the St. Croix between Hudson, WI and Stillwater, MN.

I was just out on the Mississippi a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I traveled 80+ miles from Red Wing to Alma and back. I had never been past the northern edge of Lake Pepin before and it's very scenic. A Bald Eagle flew right over us. We had lunch at the Pickle Factory in Pepin. That muddy water killed my seawater pumps, though. The next time out , I started getting hot and went into guardian mode at WOT on the port engine. I was able to make it back the 12 miles at cruise. Both of my pump impellers looked great, but there was a ton of grooving in the housing top and bottom. I just finished installing R&R stainless rebuild kits and both engines stayed at 160°. I don't know how you guys run the Mississippi all the time. My boat was filthy! Hopefully, I'll make it down for the Liquid Jungle Poker Run this year and see you there. :drink:
