90s 42SS - what to look for?
 

Hello all - I'm seriously looking at a couple of 199X 42SSs that are out there and wonder what I should look for when I go to look at them (i.e.: are they known for wet or soft spots, wiring issues, motor mount problems, or anything like that?).

No common defects I know of. As with most large boats, look for stress cracks by hatches and dash. Be carefull with salt water boats. Pay attention to general condition as that is an indicator of maintenance. You should have it surveyed before you pull the trigger.

Buyers market!!!! There are some deals to be had!!! I agree, you can usually tell how a boat was taken care of and used. And a survey is peace of mind! Good luck!

Where are you located?? Issues are boat dependent. Some have quirks others don't. No real major problems.
