26' 496 Ho Speeds?

I am looking at a 2001 26' Prowler with a 496 mag ho. what kind of top end speed can I expect? What can I do short a blower to pick up top end speeds? oh asking $64,500 with trailer brand-new is that ok price? I can get it for a little less than that.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 01 26 with a 496 ho. I have seen as high as 70.8 on Gps depending on fuel and passengers. Great boat. The price does'nt seem bad. Good luck.

26 prowleer

cap071 i have a 1998 26 prowler with 502 mpi mag run a 23p mirage plus lab finished prop at 5000rpm
at 69-70mph gps. if you never driven or rode in one you'll love it !! there are other prowler owners on the board , they will tell you the same thing. i hope to add a pro charger to mine this summer , should run 80 mph + !!!. go see jim and dennis at east coast marine in new gretna nj, they might even have a left over 2001 . they gave me a really great deal . (609) 294-1700 tell them tony and jill sent you .

I know this does not help much, but I have a 1999 with an HP500EFI. I have not dialed it in yet. I am speculating it does 72-75.

I will be converting it to the HP525EFI this spring with the Arizona Speed & Marine kit. Good for another 25HP, plus I will be having the prop labbed at York. Currently I have a 24P B1. I will try a few more props too as moolah allows.

I have driven a prowler with a hp500 and a mirage plus prop, it did 74mph on gaffrig, 3 passengers, 1/4 tank of gas. I would expect 496 to run between 70 and 73mph with a mirage plus. 1 or 2 mph slower with a bravo.

Thanks Tony...
I just brought in and sold a 1999 with a 454 mag wipple and XR drive. I didn't get a chance to open her up but I will and I'll let you know what the speed is.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Jim
