Longest Trip on Your Sonic
A year ago now I was planning my trip fro Melbourne Beach, Fl to DC. I made the trip May 16, 2008 to May 21, 2008 on my 31SS. The length of the trip was about 1,100 statute miles.
What is the longest trip you guys have made (on the water) on your Sonic? |
Wow nice trip. The longest we did was from Marco island to Key West
|
I can't remember his screenname, but the guy who has www.hyperfishing.com has done a LOT of long distance trips in his 30SS (31).

Long Ride !!!
I've taken my 386 STS from John's Pass (Treasure Island Florida) to Big Pine Key and then to Key West. It was a great ride with lot's of Dolphins along the way. Average cruise btw 52 -55 mph.

OMG, what was the fuel cost?
fuel usage was 763 gal. I kept the boat at Hope Springs Marina. The gas price there was at or below street price. Hope Springs is the best marina I saw on the trip. |
Mrcall how long did that take?

bad weather. Average speed was about 32MPH; mostly due to the slow speed and no wake zones in Southern GA, SC, and NC. I cruised at 50MPH when I had a chance. |
Tampa to Hawks Cay, then up to Miami Gov't Cut, then off to Grand Bahama Island. The return trip was back to Stuart and came through the ditch to Lake Okeechobee then through the western side of the ditch and then back up to Tampa Bay. Have made this trip twice and had a great time both times. All this was done within 10 days each time.

Yes you can go at speed across the lake. It is very shallow so when the wind kicks up it gets sloppy in a hurry. Now in the river both east and west of the lake have several no wake zones and in some areas there are speed limits along with the locks. If you have never done it, you need to do it once. Stay at Roland Martin's in Clewiston one night for a real treat!

I spent 2 weeks 2 dif. times in the Bahamas went went all over, would use about a tank every 1 1/2 days in my 42, we would run for a few hours and then stop and swim, eat, drift then run for a while and pull in somewhere get a room for a night or 2 then do it again. It was 2 couples 1 time and 3 dudes the other so we got rooms, if I did it again I would want 2-3 boats with couples then just tie up in a cove and sleep on the boats so we would save $$ and be able to spend more on gas so we could run farther out. Plus a lot of the out of the way marinas will let you dock for next to nothing and the locals all want to see the boat and help in anyway, half of them will feed you if you let them get a picture of them behinde the wheel of your boat.
