Waterproof Flooring

The weather in Minnesota has been very unpredictable this summer. I've already been caught in the rain twice so far. I got tired of dealing with sopping wet cockpit carpet, so I went looking for something else. I got samples of Lonseal. But, that flooring is very hard and none of the colors matched the blue on my boat. I found this stuff called Deckadence from marineflooring.net. It's made from PVC and has a rubber backing which provides some nice cushion. I used the original carpet as a template and am very happy with the result. I still have to install the snaps, though. Bring it on rain!

It's not as nice as carpet, but the cushion helps.

Plum, the folding footrest on the passenger side, did you install that yourself ? Where did you get it ?

Steve

I believe that was an option from Sonic. I've seen the same footrest on others.

Nice find! I am not a carpet fan either.

What was the coin? Price per square foot?
Did you go direct or find a dealer?

c_deezy 08-19-2010 12:29 AM

I like it. I'd like to some ordering info as well, seems you have to order from a dealer?

It's sold on a 4' roll by the foot at about $30/ft. I went through my local dealer.

That looks like it'll be fun to vacumn out , I guess you'll just take it out and flush it with a hose. As far as the folding step for Maryland Steve, it's available thru Sonic and is made by Garlick (sp?). I added one to my Prowler and it was a great upgrade, the wife loved it! Steve

I was a fan of cockpit carpet in the past, but have the Lonseal in the Active Thunder and love it. There are lots of different patterns and colors to choose from but not many primary colors such as blue. I have floor drains in the cockpit so you could just hose it out, but I don't like getting my boat wet :drink:! I ordered the optional cockpit carpeting but doubt that I'll ever use it! Steve

I will have to get one and install it. My wife is short and hates that there is no place to put her feet when sitting in the passenger bolster. Or I could just trad eher in on a taller wife !

Wait until she's 40 then change her out for two 20's

If you decide to sell the carpet for your 26 let me know!

What, do you think it's going to be in as good of shape as the cockpit cover I sold you? :lolhit: Just kidding, I've traded my Prowler (along with the carpet) for a 33 Active Thunder. I have to apoligize for not changing my avatar yet! Steve

Jeff

I've been out twice with the boat, once we ran to Winthrop Harbor for lunch, and once up to Whistling Staits for lunch. My buddy did a blow by along shore and they broadcast it on national coverage of the PGA, the quality was awesome! I've been jammed with work so unfortunately I've missed one of the best summers in a long time but plan on having the boat for several more. I really enjoy just tweaking the boat and trailer to fine tune everything. The 502's are "really" quiet, although Corsa installed baffles in the tips so I'm not sure how much is the cats and how much are the baffles! Still haven't gotten a chance to play with props and currently hitting the limiter with 28 Bravo's. Looking forward to some fall boating and some future trips across the pond and maybe south this winter. I don't regret the decision! Steve

Where did you put your seam if its only 4' wide?

It runs across the width of the boat under the seats for minimal exposure. The dealer provided a strip of heavy-duty vinyl for the back along with vinyl adhesive. If I had to do it again, I think I would just make it two pieces with more snaps.

After two outings with this flooring, I have to restate my opinion. It's definitely more comfortable than the carpet. My feet used to get sore when standing on long trips. Not anymore! While the surface isn't as soft as carpet, the cushion is so much better.
