Thanks everybody...it has been an amazing couple of days for sure. Talked to the new president of Sonic yesterday. Offshore legends have been contacting me all day. It is something when the guys you've read about and looked up to start emailing and calling you to congratulate you.
I would not say I smoked the OL he went by me like my motors dropped out... (kind of like when a Mopar goes by a Pontiac JUST KIDDING 30CTSUTPHEN!!!!!) :coolcowboy: Just ran my race like I planned and it all worked out in the end We finished 6 out of 13. I counted the dead in the water competition not laps. We had the same tortise and hare experience leaving the Key West harbor. it was about as much fun as you can have in a boat and was the best seat in the house to watch the other boats on the outside of the course. the race prep was removing the cushions from the cabin and beer from the cooler left over from our run the the Dry Tortugas. Thanks for the thread sharing your experience. Congratulations on your win you done an awesome thing. Sam |
Thanks guys- I do love my Sonic I've had it for 9 years so I had no worries about the hull and the water, I've been in bigger water by myself before. It came down to things breaking that I did not expect to break, steering and trim tab solinoid. It's a long way around the island and plenty of time for things to go wrong.
X-driver my dad used to read Aesops fables to me for bedtime storys when I was a little kid, I was thinking of him when I saw who I was running against. |
It's great to see the older sonics are still very capable of running with the big dogs and winning
