2001 386 w/496 ho
I have owned this boat for 6 years and never really looked for an answer. The boat is a tank, a/c generator micro refer and full head, so it's not the fastest 386 with the power package but its turn key and very good on fuel. So when the boat has full tanks of fuel (200 gallons )it will run heavy and wet, it never seems to get the nose out and run efficient, lot of porpoising and if you trim it up just a little you start bouncing, a little bit of tab will correct it but it's constantly looking for more adjustment. Half tanks of fuel it's like a different boat, very easy to run smooth, can run it wot with good results but still isn't happy with trim, to get the best speed its trimmed up, way up, end result 64-65mph on gps, lake water 1700 ft above sea level, running 4800rpm with 24" bravo one props. In the ocean it loves the choppy stuff, seems to run much easier. With this all said is any body running this similar set up who has tried messing around with different props, seems like it just doesn't have enough prop to carry the nose and hold it there. Most of the other 386's are running bravo style props, not sure if it's worth messing with. your opinions please.
