Offer Accepted 1995 42SS

Offer was accepted yesterday and deposit in mail today on a 1995 42SS. Boat has 2 HP 500s, one rebuilt last year and one with a valve job and new valve springs about 40 hours ago. Boat only has about 240 hours on it. AC, Genny, arch removed. Survey and sea trial in the works. Got my fingers crossed.

Nice. Good Luck with her. I like the arch. Gives them a distinctive look, and a nice place for the spot light, VHF antenna, down lighting, addtl speakers, etc. They ( arch )were a $5k option on the boat.

You will enjoy her, I did mine until I moved into the 45. I like the 45 much better for many reasons, but you will be very happy with the 42.

Good luck! Get some pictures up, when you get the chance!

A problem has cropped up. The port engine whch was rebuilt last year is not revving under load past about about 3k. Mechanic is looking at it today. Talking to owner it sounds like an ignition issue but hard to say.

Decided to pursue a 33 instead, updates to come

45Tripps 08-09-2011 04:33 PM

Say it aint so........

Well the 42 is a nice boat at a nice price the seller is going to have his mechanic get the engine that is not revving up to proper rpms repaired. I would be moving the boat a long distance from that mechanic who installed engine and don't want the hassle of working the bugs out. Also I decided that 42' is just more boat than I want right now. I will be trailering the boat and the smaller boat will be easier to trailer and my current truck will handle the weight just fine.

For that price you can have my 01 31SS. A lot newer and less problematic, and clearly trailerable. :drink:

If bought will be spending a lot less on the 33.

HiPerf2000 08-10-2011 12:58 PM

is that 42 bottom painted ?

from the look of the pic, it looks bottom painted...and seems to be sitting on the bottom with the stern raised ??

45Tripps 08-10-2011 03:39 PM

Does sit funny in the pic, Stern is a little high isnt it ? Engine problem is more than likely ignition related unless there is a mechanical issue causing this. Prob a simple fix.

The rest of the boat looks like its in good shape. As long as it was mechanically & structurally sound, that was a hec of a price with a trailer from was indicated what was done to her power wise and hours wise.

I think I would have to see what the outcome was before I went another direction. Good luck either way.
