First ride(s) of the season

So we were super pumped to get out on Friday evening for the first run of the year. My aunt and cousin were along for their first ride on the Sonic, everyone was excited. Start up, no issues. Idle out a bit and the dash starts screaming. Checking gauges, all appears fine, bam another alarm goes off. All gauges still good, turn around to bring her back in. Both engines begin to get up to 180 and continue to climb, but the port engine is starting to really work on my nerves up so I shut her down. Totally bummed we take the boat back to Mark to see what the deal is considering he ran it a week before after some R&R of an oil line and normal winter/spring maintenance. He pulls a bunch of black crap out of the port water pump. Can only figure we sucked up some garbage of some type that the stbd engine must have spit out since it began to cool off returning to the ramp and he found basically nothing in it.

We met Mark yesterday to go for a run and he ran some diagnostic checks under load on the trailer with no issues. OH MAN did it feel good to go for a ride yesterday. Bummer my cousin had to fly out Saturday morning, but will be back in August. Everything ran just the way we remember--isn't that the best feeling!?!? :thankyouthankyou: Ran 4grand+ and even ran wide open for a couple of miles, didn't really look at the gps, was glued to gauges/water, but I am still grinning ear to ear. Of course the gopro was in the truck so no vids, water was mostly calm and boring, perfect for the first run. I slept like a baby after tossing and turning all Friday night stomach in a knot worried about our baby:lolhit:

Wasn't sure if I'd post this in general and it is a mostly useless, maybe even totally useless, story, but I am sure we've all had our :poopoo: moments over the years. Had some nasty weather come through early this AM so I was up keeping an eye on the toys...

If you're in this neck of the woods and not dealing with Mark Bentley, I think you're nuts-he's the man! And we really love our Sonic! Hoping we have a LONG HOT summer!!!

I bought a flame arrester from Mr. Bentley - great service, part was shipped out promptly and he was very nice on the phone.

Put my sonic in the water today, both engines started on the first try, minor warranty work was done by ocean performance over the winter and it ran great.... Had my props tuned up by a couple local guys resulting in a 2mph gain... looking forward to a good time this weekend.
