35 ss prop help
I just finished my 35ss project 1994
725 HP bravo x drives I ran the boat for the first time today with the only props I have 28 bravo 4 blade. At cruise the boat responds well to trim and the bow is nice and light but the faster the boat goes it pushes the bow down and more trim doesn't help. 80 mph at 5000 rpm . What props are you guys running? |
Have the props had work done? That doesn't sound right. It sounds to me like you may have a hook in the hull.
|
Props are stock new 28 bravo
I'm going to check for a hook , I checked 2 years ago when I got the hull and it was good. Boat has been blocked up inside since then so I doubt there is a hook now |
Does anyone turn their props in ?
|
I heard turning will cause more stern lift.
I run hydromotives on my 35 and the boat runs nice and flat...they are said to be stern lifting props. my boat is only in the 70 range, but when fully trimmed at WOT the bow is light and not pushed down. sounds like a possible hook ? what year is your boat ? |
No hook that I can see, boat is a 1992
Bblades recommended trying the props turning in for more bow lift. I've done that before on other boats but it makes handling around the docks poor. |
The bow dropping at higher speed seems like a set up issue to me, not so much props. I would check drive alignment, put a 8' straight edge on the bottem, make sure your trim indicators are correct. Check for play in the gimbals.

New HP gimbals , hyd steering, I keep trimming until I'm loosing speed it the faster I go the harder the bow pushes
