Rocket trailer improvements

I finally replaced my surge brakes with electric, huge improvement. I had my coupler welded so I didn't need to replace that. Very cheap upgrade, only $120 per axle for loaded backing plates (2" x 12" drum).

I also got tired of struggling to load the boat straight on the trailer, so I added 2 more bunks in the rear to center the boat as I pull it out. Tried it out today. Perfect on the first try. The trailer is a lot nicer to use now.

How bout a pic of your bunks? I'd like to add a 2nd set as well, and any and all ideas rather than reinventing the wheel is much appreciated.

I also struggled with this on my Rocket trailer. Instead of additional bunks, I made a set of removeable guide-ons. I bolted a 7' piece of 1/4" wall square tubing with a 1.5" inner diameter to the bottom of the trailer. The guide posts slide in and are pinned. It doesn't matter how crooked the launch is, now. The boat is centered every time.

Took the pics at dusk, sorry they are a little dark.

I have better quality (1/2") square tube u bolts coming, although they don't carry a load, they just act as guides. MUCH better loading.

Plum, I was thinking about that too. Trailer originally had guide poles. The bunks were easier as I had most of the materials lying around from other projects.
