Rocket trailer improvements
I finally replaced my surge brakes with electric, huge improvement. I had my coupler welded so I didn't need to replace that. Very cheap upgrade, only $120 per axle for loaded backing plates (2" x 12" drum).
I also got tired of struggling to load the boat straight on the trailer, so I added 2 more bunks in the rear to center the boat as I pull it out. Tried it out today. Perfect on the first try. The trailer is a lot nicer to use now. |
How bout a pic of your bunks? I'd like to add a 2nd set as well, and any and all ideas rather than reinventing the wheel is much appreciated.

Took the pics at dusk, sorry they are a little dark.

I have better quality (1/2") square tube u bolts coming, although they don't carry a load, they just act as guides. MUCH better loading.

Plum, I was thinking about that too. Trailer originally had guide poles. The bunks were easier as I had most of the materials lying around from other projects.
