31 SS Value
Hey Guys:
I am in the process of listing my 2007 31SS in the classifieds section here on OSO and was looking for some guidance on asking price as to what is "reasonable". I don't want to "fire sale" it or give it away but I also don't want to be sitting on it for a year either. Just realistic (I know we all think our boats are worth more than we think). The boat is a 2007 31SS 496 HO's with about 140 hours. Boat is CLEAN and optioned nicely with a tri-axle aluminum trailer. Thoughts would be appreciated as I'd like to list it on OSO this week. Thanks, Steve |
There are not many 31 sonics on the market. There are several 2007 35 fountains with the same power listed 65-75k. There are also more of them so that brings there value down some. Just a wild guess 75k-80k. Like I said just a guess. There's a 2005 with every option and 500efi's that's bin for sale for a couple of years and its down to 77k last time I checked.

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...31-SS-99521641. Its actually down to 74900, has bin for sale for a looooooong time. Looks clean. Hope this helps.

That's about in line with what I was thinking. Figured if I listed it for $ 75k I'd have some flexibility and end up somewhere in the upper 60's low 70's. At that ask should not scare off any truly interested buyers and with some flexibility I would hope it would move in a reasonable amount of time

Last spring my buddy sold his 09 33 active thunder with 525's for $80k on a trailer.

Steve, out of curiousity how does the newer model 31ss run with twin ho's? One of the main reasons I sold mine was because I personally thought it was to slow for my liking. I had a 26 prowler with single ho/bravo 1. Boy it was a slug in every way.

I think 75 is cheap for an 07.

Kevin, I can't speak for all 31's but my boat with 496 HOs 1/2 fuel and two people on board will run 72 - 73 MPH on GPS @ 4900 RPM. Not sure if its the way I am trimming the boat or if its the props but I can never seem to get that last 200 RPM which could mean a mile per hour or so more. I had a friend with a 26 Prowler 502 Mag best he could get was 62 MPH. The ride between a 31 and a 26 is night and day !

I know we have gone down this way before but as for speed... my boat with the new 8.2 merc mag, not HO will go over 70..... When it was delivered to me I was told it went 71. that came from Tony Frisina who tested it with Arrow Marine in NJ. I have had it at that speed with 1/4 tank of fuel....and a couple of upgrades... but that is all...I do not want to get into a disagreement again over speed... but it is what it is..... HO's should be mcuh better than that....

Kevin was not saying that at all... merly sending out the buffer before I got hammered again form those who claim they know more about my boat then I do... only trying to conribute to this conversation and attempting to answer a question.. Since thereapy Kevin.. I do not get angry anymore... jsut try to help...I would expect the new HO engines to push the boat to mid 70/s that was my point.. by the way if you know of anyone looking for a 2011 sonic there is a commission availabe for anyone who can get me a buyer. this is priced extremely reasonably.... offers are always considered.

Dave,
Glad she is still running like a top. I won't let the wife see the pic I wouldn't let her take the dogs on the boat. Had another addition to the family in May another boy. Have a good winter. Corey |
