Cabin lights
Has anyone replaced the chrome dual lights that are on the sides walls of the cabin? Two of mine are tarnished and I'm looking to see if they can be bought or if someone replaced theirs with something else.
Thanks |

I started a thread about replacing mine a while back. Not much of a response back then...... Maybe someone now has some direct replacements that look more "modern"...... With all the LED hype there has to be something..... ??

I want something flush and led too, the old limo style lights look dated,

I haven't, I do know that I don't want the same lights, I want more modern. The search continues!

I think just about any light out there will require a mounting plate to cover up the old base hole, similar to what Sonic did on this boat. But, yachtlights.com has some nice LED's.
|
I have been working on a couple things since I read this thread. So far my idea is to get some lexan cut in oval plates similar to what's in the 2003+ sonics, either have the plates covered in vinyl or paint, install recessed LED's into the plates and moun them up. I am going to take one of my limo style lights off friday evening to get some dimensions for the space behind the plate. It will most likely cost a couple hundred dollars to do the whole boat. I've done A LOT of custom stereo and lighting upgrades to cars, boats and bike over the years so this shouldn't be that hard.
|
I'd be interested in that
|
I'll keep everyone posted!
|
I'd be interested also...... if you want to make a few I'd be willing to purchase a couple for my cabin.... just a thought.... I'm just not good at making custom stuff like that......lol......

Thought I'd chime in and show you guys what I did on my Cigarette, actually what Lip-Ship did to replace my old, ugly cabin lights. They basically used a simple 4 LED round light and then an acrylic backing plate to cover the old hole like somebody already mentioned earlier in this thread.
Hope this helps somebody... |
That's similar to my idea but I don't want to have screws showing so I'm working on something a little more tick than that.
|
Hanzcap, when do you think you will have a prototype?
|
I'm hoping to have a prototype by the end of the week.
|
I just saw the ones in the 35ss on the Sonic site, these are along the lines of what I want. I'm going to call and see if these can be bought.

anyone ever update the lights yet ? I just purchased one of these as a sample...... I'm thinking of having a backing plate made to cover old hole and update the look........

Sending out my template today to innotech. I made a template similar to the plates Sonic used in there cabins...... cant wait to toss the old limo lights in the trash.... These are the led's I will be using ..... I'll post some pics after the job is complete......

I have a hard time believing Sonic glued light panels to vinyl. With the pounding an offshore boat takes, I wouldn't trust it.

And I actually decided on using hardware instead of just glueing them in...... I found a lot of options for very nice decorative screw caps online...... here is one site of many that I found...... http://www.thesignchef.com/sign-moun...ies/screw-caps and one more..... http://www.display-wholesale.com/ser...FXEQ7Aod5i4AcA |

Huge improvement. I think Innotech is going to get a bunch of calls.
