Engine alignment 2003 26 prowler 496 mag ho
 

Pulled my bravo 1x off this past weekend an replaced the unjoints an bellows an gimbal bearing due to water intrusion. Went to check the engine alignment today to reinstall the drive an it's off but the engine mounts aren't adjustable . Tried using a tiny bottle jack an using fender washers as spacers to raise it but still a no go. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.:poopoo:

Was the drive easy to come off when you first took it off or did you have to pry it off? Next question, this one is a dumb one but I'm just trying to rack my brain here, are you checking the alignment with an alignment tool or a make shift tool? I'm no expert but if the drive came off nice and easy or (normal) I would not suspect the alignment being off that much. If it was nice before, the ol' saying is, its usually the last thing we did. Make sure the bearing did not tilt up or down, I don't know if you know this but that bearing is rounded like a ball inside the race, it is not flat, you can actually tilt it horizonal if you really wanted to and it would still stay in the race. But if all the above is not the case, I too will be scratching my head. I thought all the pedestal mounts were adjustable. I changed my Prowler to Offshore front mount style, because I was going to put BIG power in it. Hope this helps or someone else has any idea's for you.

Pretty sure these are offshore front mounts. It's just square tubing contoured to the bottom of the engine with a stud on top that goes through each engine mount. I guess I'll try messing with the bearing, really wanted to get out Sunday....but if its not right it's not goin on.

Hadnt done one in years and I was going NUTS one time trying to align it, gave up brought it to a shop, guy reminded me of this, brought boat back home, and aligned it in like 5 minutes.

Thanks does it take alot of force to move the bearing an can u do it with the alignment tool?

Bottom the tool out then pull it out a few inches so it has room to not hit anything and move it up and down, side to side. Takes a little pressure, but not too much, first time moving it may take a little more pressure to break it free since it has been sitting in that same position for who knows how long.

I got the tool in an it comes out easily now that's all it was. I'll be reinstalling the drive tomorrow so hopefully all goes well. Thanks for the input
