Transom shower ?

Hi all,
Have 26 prowler that has garden hose (female threads) attachment on the back of swim platform , question is , should this only be used for flushing motor,,,,,or.can it also be used as raw water wash down (with engine running of course) or do I have it all wrong,,,lol

Thanks for any answers on this

It's directly connected to the raw water input from your drive.

Connect water hose.
Turn water hose on.
Start engine.
Allow to flush with Dawn or Salt-Away or just fresh water, whichever you choose.
Turn off engine.
Let hose run for another couple minutes to back flush salt out of the drive.

There is no water running through the engine when it is off. It can't get past the SWP's impeller.

Thanks sydwayz, yes I understand ,flush attachment is tee into entering (suction side) of pump, so with engine (running) could this also be used as a raw water wash down (boat in water)??,& also is it better to flush motor through drive with muffs? Too get salt out of drive?

Maybe answered self , I guess it is gonna be suction from drive ,not pressure so if I open flush cap while running motor this would create air gap to pump ? I'm thinking with cap open air would suck in -not- water coming out .?

It's on the vacuum side of the water pump, not the pressure side. You would suck in air and also cook your impeller.

It's much better to flush with the fresh water hose attachment. That's why it's there.
As mentioned above, if you have the garden hose turned on, with the ENGINE off, it will be flowing water from the SWP backwards out the drive; flushing the salt backwards out of the drive. That's why you let the garden hose run for a few minutes after you turn off the engine.

Once you hook up your garden hose, and turn it on; you will see what I am saying.

I think almost all of the 26' Sonics came with a fresh water tank in the port gunwale, and a fresh water pump; for plumbing to the sink in the cabin. You could easily add a transom shower to this system if you do not have one.

Thanks for all your knowledge on this , yes I have fresh water pump/faucets /ect. ,all working fine , I get what u r saying about drive flush,& pump vac. Thanks again ,

No problem. I had a 26' Sonic back in the day. There are also many folks here knowledgeable about the brand. Sonic didn't make a lot of changes to the boats which makes them easy to work on.

You can find a transom shower just about anywhere and add it to your existing fresh water system. It would be easy to install it on the walk rail.

We put the small Scandvik one on the new Active Thunders. I have a new one, slightly larger; that I bought years ago for another project and never installed that's just collecting dust. I need to put it on eBay.

Sonic tees the transom shower in the engine compartment, right off of of the fresh water pump. Sonic also uses the Scandvik transom shower. You can buy it as a whole transom shower assembly.
