2000 Sonic 358 Time to Update or Sell ?
Purchased new in 01, now with approximately 450hours on 502's. Engine rebuilds performed in 09. However, winter "to-do" list has grown and due to other obligations, they simply haven't been getting done for the past few years now.
Is there a market to blow these out in the S Florida area? Or should I begin to label this as a project boat and start tearing her apart to update engines and interior? |
what all is on the "to do" list? just curious:party-smiley-004:
|
You have to price it cheap to sell. Probably less of a hit to update what you have.
|
my list, as saved on my MacBook .....
replacing: all running & interior lights with LED support hardware for cabin door new cabin carpeting replacing hardware on hatches throttles & shifters (or having them sent out to redo the powder coating) new upholstery for cockpit (already purchased) diamond plate battery boxes replace AC water pump replace freshwater pump / install transom shower (already purchased) install diamond plate boxes on trailer replace brakes on trailer replace tab & drive indicator cables install fender holders (ss snap-in’s) replacing the stereo and the amps/speakers remain replacing the VCR & monitor with new DVR & monitor and now I really want to address the motors. My biggest enemy, is time. I don't want to admit that I'm turning into "that older guy" at the marina that keeps her covered more of the time than she is wet. |
Throttle and shifters are easy as well as running new cables. Did it on my 00 358 in about 2-3 hours start to finish. Battery trays are a pain in the butt but I replaced mine so I could run group 30 batteries. Carpet is easy, A/C pump and just about everything else is fairly easy on our boats.
|
Or just make me a good deal on it and I'll take care of it:party-smiley-004:
|
Unless you buy new again, I think you would find you need to do most of that list to most used boats.
|
FOR SALE.... made the decision.

Had her brought back to Lauderdale for InterMarine brokers to handle it from here.
In a quiet way I hope that she doesn't sell right away, this way I can make one last run to Miami with her! |
alright guys, let me know where you think my number is (high/right/low)

No trailer?
|
No. She is kept inside on a rack.
|
I would say you are in line then on the price.
|
Thanks for the opinion. Now only time will tell.
(Hope you are right) |
This should be a good sign of how the market is going, broker called and said that they've received several calls already. Now just waiting to see if someone steps up with a checkbook.
|
Just got back from running her during Christmas week throughout Lauderdale and now its time. I don't want to look back and I don't want my boat to
be "that ad". Looking for serious advice on where the number should be to let her find a new home, in a timely manner. Suggestions? |
502 should move it pretty darn quick I'd think
|
curious to see also how fast! but my guess is you'll have between 50 and 52 as offers... good luck!
|
broker reduced to $49,900 !
|
Thats a lot of boat for $50K.

This is nice, unmolested 358 and the graphics can be redone easily to update the boat (lots of white too) but it still is a 14-15 year old boat with mild power.... |
down to 39k !!!
that's a price drop! don't see why it would not sell quick at that price! any action on the boat at 39? |

No. Called though. 39 K made me want to know more. That was a good number.
|
Had I seen the new price, I would have unloaded my AT ASAP
|
Hard for me to say that. I'm comfortable having twins for lake Michigan and can still navigate the Chain O'Lakes in Illinois with miner caution. 358 not so much. Unlike the 31 the 358 has a unique ride coming on plane or just on plane. Apparently needing tabs just right. Some are not a fan so I hear. Never had a chance to experience it my self though. Don't have that issue with the AT.

Pretty sure Fastboats recently sold two 358s.....both newer by 4-5 years and they were in the mid fifties.(Nate 5.0 got one of them).
