Lost my O/D this past weekend. Looking for some upgrade info.
Prowler launch was normal with normal warm up. Idled out the channel and went to accelerate. Got about half way up and BOOM! Dead in thw water. So when I got it back home, I pulled the O/D and took it to my mercury mech. As soon as he saw the drive shaft, he told me I had spun the engine coupler. I said HUH! Then he started digging out metal with the grease while explaining what happened. He initial analysis was something broke in the O/D that locked it and that in turn caused the coupler (next weak link) to spin. So I have to pull the motor. Something I have been wanting to do but really had no reason. Going to update everything I can while it is out.
Primarily looking for help on a cam upgrade. While I got it out might as well improve the performance if I can. Would like to go with something a LITTLE hotter/stronger then the OEM 502 roller cam. My mods are in my sig. Any help or suggestions or actual experience would be greatly appreciated.
