big power

Everybody knows sonics were built heavy and that made them great in the rough it also made them slow it doesn't seem like anybody ever put huge power in a sonic is there a reason or have I just never seen them ?

I have a 35ss with 725's runs 92 consistently

There is a 31SS in North Carolina/Virginia area with a pair of 900HP blower motors. It's pretty ridiculous.

Wow yeah both boats sound awsome it just seemed to me that every one I see for sale has 454 or hp500 guess I just need to look around more lol

Of your looking for a sonic mine may be for sale

Here's Johnny 12-22-2013 09:51 AM

I have to agree, you don't see to many with big power. Mine came with 575sci's which you don't even see to many with that. Most seem to have 502's, 496's, or 500's...... I feel the reasoning is heavy boat+big power=drive issues..... And I would imagine those buying a Sonic are a little more interested in cabin and comfort then all out top speed (like myself) so they kept them tame from the factory....... I'm not saying I haven't thought about pulling more from my motors but those are some of the reasons I haven't. Billy, what drives you running and how are they holding up?

I have gathered on here that raising X has minimal effects too, but have always figured the bravo platform has a lot to do with it.

Someone should stagger a 45 with #6s:eekdrop: Go run with apaches and whatnot:bunnydance:

There was one in Texas with an extended platform molded on and they called it a 46. It too had big power.

And then there was the 45 with SeaTek Diesels and surface drives with 2 speed transmissions, but I don't know if that boat ever got dialed in.

Both my 42' s had 500 carb and efi's there used to be one that did the KeyWest poker run that had 3 big blower motors in it I think he ran close to 100. In my opinion it just takes to much money to make them run. I have enjoyed turn key motors it makes boating a lot more fun
