I didn't know I had mufflers!
 

I was freeing up my internal flappers and discovered a restrictor was holding the counter weights from moving. I took off my risers and pulled out the worlds cheesiest slip in silencers. I think they're plastic! These were put in at the factory, weren't ordered, so I figure its how Sonic complies with NYS noise laws. I of course removed them! The boat sounds better, much better midrange, and close to 1mph on gps faster. Not bad for $10 in riser gaskets. If you have hose clamps midway on your exhaust hoses, they are for holding these silencers in. I always wondered why they were there.:rolleyes:

What year is you boat and did it have Merc silent choice?

My boats a 97 31SS, no silent choice or any exhaust options. Wish I did have silent choice.

Great idea and work......that is the cheapest 1 mph I have ever heard of. Usually about 1200.00 per MPH.......you got quite a bargain

Yeah, unfortunately I do. Why, do you need to kill some weeds? Probably wouldn't be fast at that either.;)
