Where are your speakers and amps mounted 31ss?

Sitting here waiting for the season to start to take the 31 out, I am buying stereo system components to install as soon as the boat is out of storage. I am going with a combination of 4 8" coax and 2 subs Rockfords each on their own JL amp. My questions are, where do you have speakers (Higher, lower, etc), are your subs in the cockpit or cabin and how are they mounted, and where have people installed their amps?

Before I go hog wild and start cutting and wiring, I figured I would ask if anyone has any do's, dont's, wish I had, etc. And if you have pics of install ideas, please share.

Bring summer soon!

Thanks!

Send me an email at [email protected] and I can show you what I did on my old 31.

Here are some pics of what I did. I had six 7.7's and one 10" sub. I know that kjberman had three subs under the seat.

Plus, I added another set of removable 7.7's...

Plum_crazy, how do you like the speaker placement? Are they too low and is that as high as you can go for the correct depth?

Yes, that's as high as I could get them. The front speaker on the Port side was actually within 1/8" from touching the water tank. But, the sound was great. I could hear the stereo just fine cruising at 50. You could always build some pods to get them higher if you want.

The water tank is behind where you did the speaker? I assumed it was further forward.

That's where it was on mine. I don't know if they're all the same, but I would think so.

Here's a few pics of mine...

Sub pics suck, carpet is out but all I had on the ipad. The two amps are located in the port slider in the cockpit on a custom mount.

I was fearful when I ran them but had seen pics of it done that high and figured... wth... the speakers I ran are Polk DB6501 6.5" Component's. The depth was 2.31"...
