31 to 35 BIG step

I was recently contacted by a dealer wanting to sell me a 358 for 190K, which is 44K off the sticker price. The difference between a 31 and a 358 is a bit ridiculous, about 50K. Kind of hard to step up to the next model with that size of increase.

I think the price of new boats is out of control!

Ken,

I have to agree with you, I might be out of line, or just plainly a tight wad:p but the price increase because of the new hull process is kinda big.

It is nice though that they did also change the amenities greatly too, I stepped in a new sonic recently and comparing it to my 2001 is night and day. The new ones almost look as good as a cigarette inside and in the cockpit/engine compartment.

I have to agree with these boat prices....out of control.
In late 2000, a 2001 31 Sonic with 502MPI's was selling for 114K here in VA, and a 35 was about 150K.
As this business continues to blossom, so will all new boat sales. When will we reach the top????

Sonic30ss 11-17-2002 10:20 AM

I may be wrong, but take that 150K pick up a good used 40ss completly refit it and still be 50K and 5' ahead of the game???

GO4BROKE 11-17-2002 10:53 AM

Yes, used is probably the only way I can go bigger. I bought my 31 new and it great to have a boat in perfect condition but it costs lots. When considering a new 35 with 500's is 190K, and a 1995 45SS, triple 500's, redone in 2000-looks new, with a trailer and hydro hoist is 190K, its a no-brainer! I just wish I had 190K!

it sure seams like the mid 1990's 42's are the best deal out there, you can find them for around 100k thats alot of boat for that kind of money....that's my next move in about 5 years.

You can get a used 02 with 20 hours yes twenty hours from a local dealer. It is spotless with hot paint.

Local marina here has a lift kept 99 42SS with 502/415 MPI's & arch for $135K ! Marina is Mears Point Marina, Mears Point Yatch Sales in Grasonville/Chester Maryland. Sales guy is Jim Lilly, if interested.

Clean boat, nice paint. Think it even has external hydraulic steering.
