Graphics on older sonics
 

Any one know how the graphics were done on the older sonics?(late 80's, early 90's) Were they paint, gel or vinyl?

To the best of my knowledge graphics at sonic were never in the gel. The eariler boats were paint or a combo paint and vinyl. The stripes were painted and the sonic logos were vinyl on most of the boats i have seen. I actually like the paint vinyl combo because you can change the look of the boat fairly inexpensively. And there is no nick easier to fix than in a vinyl decal, just peel and replace!!

I'll second what Category 5 wrote. Most of the graphics are in paint with very little done in vinyl. We had a 1988 that was all paint work including the Sonic on the side. The only vinyl was the Sonic decals on the transom shower door.

I'll third that, got an 87 and it's all paint, black,yellow,grey

I had a Black 1988 30ss, all paint except the chrome Sonic decal. The paint looks as good today as the day we bought it.

My 1993 is paint! I updated mine added a stripe painted over the others looks great!
