Bolster mounting...

Can anyone tell me... My 1999 26' Prowler; is the bolster mounting hardware to the floor comprised of thru bolts with nuts, or are they just screwed to the floor?

Brian,

Usually screwed into the floor. Sometime they did through bolt them but not all the time. If it is bolted through it will be a real pain to remove the bolts. Are you trying to remove the seats??

Brian,

I just finished removing the bolster on my 42 to change out the carpet and it was screwed to the floor but the side of the seat was bolted through.

Thanks guys. I am making heavy paper patterns for new 40 oz. carpeting that covers more than the factory carpet. Going around the posts is a pain. My plan is to un-screw them from the floor, and support them from above, up about an inch, by laying a pipe across the top of the grab-rails, and bungee the weight of the bolsters up off the floor for a little bit. Thanks again!

Take 'em out dude, undoing a few more fasteners will be less hassle than all those gymnastics!

Sydwayz 03-25-2003 10:17 PM

Ya, gymnastics one way or another. You have to get upside down in them gunwale compartments to get the nuts off the side bolts. I will figure something out. Thanks!

Can't wait to get 'jiggy' on the new carpet.

Of course, you could do it my way! Put in a 6" inspection port in the floor, drill bolt holes and install (from the back side thru the inspection port) stainless T-nuts and use stainless allen cap screws in the bolster leg. The carpet covers the inspection plate. I have had screws come out
