New to the forum with a new boat.
Hi everyone,
Finally broke down and bought a boat after years of being without one. Decided on a Sonic after attending the Ft Lauderdale boat show last November. Really liked the cabin space and the lines of the boats. I'm sure that each of you have probably heard of the one that I got. The 31 Sonic with the blackhawk drives. Could not pass up the deal after it got passing reports from my independent surveyor and mechanic. The boat is still in Houston, but hopefully I will be able to bring her back to Dallas around Wednesday. Plan on keeping it at Pier 121 on Lake Lewisville because it is so close to the house, but will also be on Lake Texoma a majority of the time this summer. |
Any OSO members going to be at Party cove on Lewisville this weekend? I will be tied up with at least two others (31 Sonic, a friends new 30+ Cruiser?, and a 24 chaparral). Looking forward to meeting others from the area. Stop by and say hi.

Looks like I am having trouble attaching the pic's. I went through the browse feature and found the file. Acted as if it uploaded the file, but I do not see the attachment in the thread. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Welcome that's a nice looking boat. Good luck with the drives I had a P29 Scarab with them and didn't have much luck.
|
I'll let you know how it runs with the drives after I get some more time on them. Worked well during the test runs that I took.

Hi,
It was this boat and Too Olds Sonic project I almost bought last fall. I ended up with another Baja with - almost - the same set up (okay guys start hamering me now - just don't do it in the Baja section!). My 302 is a 96 with twin 502s and full steering, just Bravo drives. I called Jay down at Sonic to check it out, he said many were not built with Blackhawks. If I remember correctly, 95 with twin 502s and the dealer in seabrook wanted 55K for it without trailer. If you don't mind, how'd you do on the price? Jay estimated that this 31ss wuld do 70 - 75... right? Take care |
Congrats! Nice looking boat.
|
Thanks. Will have to post some better pictures after I have had a chance to detail it.
|
I like the colors and graphic design. Have a great summer! Steve

Well it's confirmed. Marina called today to say the work was complete and the boat is ready for my inspection. I plan on leaving about 3:00am tonight for the four hour drive to Houston. If everything looks good I plan on being back in Dallas tomorrow night and on the lake Thursday. Guess you could say that I am a little excited.... :D

st31, the boattrader picture did not do that boat justice. that is a very sharp 31.
|
Sweet looking boat, let us know how she runs.:)
|
Took her out today for the first time with two friends. The boat drove great, easily cutting through about 2 - 3 foot chop cruising at 50 - 55. The only problem was docking when finished. It will take a lot of practice to get used to the speed the blackhawks make the boat go even at idle while lining up to enter my slip. Between that and the wind pushing the nose around it took me several times before I got it in the hole. Definitly needed several drinks afterwards :)

Thats a sweet looking boat. A friend has a P-29 with blackhawks and he loves them, yes docking is an art but the thing shoots on to plane like nobodys business. I'm splashing today whahoooooooooo!!!
|
Neutral is your friend. :D :D SWEET!!

How the hell do you know about that? Ha! Should have been at Party Cove this last weekend. Always a site to be seen.. :)

Nice looking boat. Welcome to the Sonic family.:)

I lived in Dallas from 1990 to 1996. Used to go by land to lake. I miss all my friends down there. I used to work for MCI back before evil Worldcom took over. :D
