From a Sonic To A Cig........
I was told one of our Sonic Brethren traded his almost new 45 Sonic for the NEW, 1 and only, 46 Cig Stealth....
Looks like alot of high tech stuff on board. I would have kept the Sonic before buying the one and only..... Let someome else R&D it, put it thru its paces. Time will tell I guess. I wish him the best of luck with her, and can't wait to see her, since she will be a local boat. What do you guys think ? Keep the Sonic or Go Cig Stealth ? Sonic= Ammenities, 3x575's, B1's on boxes ( I think ) 85+mph Cig= Little ammenities, high tech gadgets, 2x1100SC/6's,110mph+ |
And it was bought at ALL PRO ? Looks like frank has a good following

Don,t forget the 1,000,000.00 Price tag in the Cigarette:eek:
|
Speed isn't everything to everyone. You can only go so fast safely and only a few times. Plus the faster you goes means bigger hp=bigger maintence. Amenities, headroom, and a solid ride with a good cruising speed is what 90% of us do, most of the time. Cig makes an ok boat, I use to own a 2000 single step 38 Top Gun (hated the ride, I was there R&D) and traded for a demo 2000 42 Sonic. I guess different stroke for different fokes.:)
|
I love cigs except for the cabin. They are priced too high, for all that $$ you should get all the amenities. They are beautiful lately. Except the stealth, I didn't like that one.

Dont think Frank had anything to do with this deal unless he got National Marine to give him the Cig, which is kinda doubtful, as they( All Pro ) are not a Cig dealer. If this was case, Offshore Performance would have done the deal as they are the Sonic & Cig dealer for our area.
I too like the Cigs, but too much money for what you get, and depending on the power, not much different in speed. for the dif in cost, throw on some prochargers and will be quicker than the cig, with a better ride. Have been told my 42 Sonic rides far better and is much more comfortable than a 42 Tiger....and this comes from the owner of the 42 Tiger ! I am sure the same holds true for all the smaller ones too. Sometimes fast is not always better.... trades offs. Didnt like the stealth either. 110mph boat, but if you can make a 386 Sonic go 106 on 900SC's/6's, I am sure you can get a 42 to do the same, especially with the same/similar kind of exotic power. I wouldnt want all the maintainence issues with that power and costs to replace/repair. I would have kept the Sonic..... Just my 02. |
Don't think for a minute Frank did not have a hand in this deal
|
I saw the Stealth on Friday night. It was on a lift out in front of Red Eyes. Nice boat!
|
Yup, thats where it will stay. Thats it's new home....... Just where the 45 Sonic sat !
Alot of exotic Boats/Power sits in that area: 40 Turbine Skater, 47 Lightning, 46 Stealth, & OP's 46 Rough Rider w/700 CID 1200+ HP Cig,,,,,,, And the Famous 40 something Baja w/900's on 6's...... From Full Tilt. |
Which Sonic was traded for it? Sea N Red?
|
Yes
|
YEP...saw it this AM when we were down lookin at boats. DAMN nice ...impressive looking boat. But what the hell is that thing sticking out of the port side canopy ((a sight of some sort????))
|
That thing sticking out of the port side is a night vision goggle of some sort. I saw that boat at the Miami boat show and it is wild. Very high tech. I am very curious how all the computer stuff holds up in a salt water environment. A really nice piece.
|
It's a night vision scope as stated. Cost about 20K. They work OK on big stable motoryachts, but would be useless on a 42 Cig at any kind of speed. The reason it is elevated so high is probably to see over the bow while idling. The picture for it shows up on one of those high tech screens. There is really nothing high tech about them, they are Northstar 962 screens built for the marine environment so they should hold up fine. A radar would have made more sense, but that would not be nearly as cool as a useless night vision scope.
A very cool boat overall. |
