Triming a 28 with BB
I have a 95 28ss with 502's. With the weight of the motors i'm having a hard time getting the boat on plane. Sometimes, just before the boat want's to plane the drives will spin out and the engines rev out. Has anyone else had this problem and/or any ideas on a fix?

What props? Bravo 1's usually have the best holeshot bite.
|
Are you using tabs? Are you trimed all the way in?
|
I'm running mirage 25's and the drives are all the way in. I've messed with the tabs on takeoff a little but doen't seem to help. Also, both days this happened there were solid 3-4 foot waves which wasn't helping.

Like go for broke said a Bravo I will greatly reduce your effort getting on plane, try some out if you can. Steve

The boat you bought previously ran in SBI P Class....So i'm sure the Props aren't the best for planning or cruising. You need to get a hold of some B1 4blades.
|
thanks for your help guys. I'll see if i can try out some different ones. How much do you think that will hurt the top end speed, if any?
|
Top speed will probably suffer around a 2 mph loss, but your cruise speed will pick up more....maybe 4 mph (that is where you usually run anyway). And you cavitation problems will more that likely go away with 4 blades.
Find someone that has a set of 26's that you can borrow. Also try a set of 24's. Record your RPMS at full throttle, and also record the speeds (gps). You may also want to try some hydromotive 4 blades in you comparisons. |
I have a set of 28 B1 4 blades repitched to 27 For Sale, with Hubs. Like new, not a ding or scratch. Anyone interested PM me for details.
I had Hydromotives Quad 4's on my 42, and they sucked ! Blew out constantly comming on plane. Went to B1's no more blow out ! Also picked up mph in the mid range/cruise rpm with the B1's. I would go to B1's. Night and day difference with the B1's..... |
