31 vs 358 sonic ?

looking to upgrade from current 26 sonic prowler . like the 31 and 358 , what would the difference in ride ? i don't really need the big cabin of the 358 , which would be faster with the same engine set ups , 496 ho's or 500efi's?

For use on the river the 31 will more than satisfy you! Good speeds with stock power and great ride with no worries about running through the snot the river can throw at you.

The 35 is absolutely beautiful but if you are not interested in the cabin than you may be buying more than you need.

As far as speeds, the 35 is heavier and will be slower with same power.

Both boats are solid! My opinion, used market, you'll get more for your money going with the 35, the 31's are selling high... 35 ride is much better than 31, but that would be ocean running... Rivers and lakes(not great lakes), the 31 would be more than enough hull for rough stuff. 35 has more deadrise than the 31. Both boats are winners!!! Same motors in both boats, 31 will be faster.. as stated by pure energy... 31-7000lbs 358 8400lbs... these are weights before new bagging process.. newer models are said to be a little lighter.... Drive them both and make your own decision, your the one that will be behind the wheel....

I believe the 31 is a 23 degree deadrise and the 358 is a 25 degree. The length of the 31 is 30.5' and the 358 is 35' 8", so more deadrise, more weight, and 5' 3" longer length will absolutely give you a better ride in the 358 than the 31ss. The 35 gives you much better fit at the helm, I'm a taller person, so it felt more comfortable.... but with the 35', towing, insurance, less speed with same motors as a 31' and you stated, the cabin isn't a real concern..... Good luck and again, both boats are winners!!!! I'll have one under my ass one of these days!!!

Totally different boats...look at use (where), need (accomodation) and speed (want vs. pocket depth). Hull alone is a significant cost upgrade. Me thinks ya' need to paretto what you want in a boat before asking this question...don't mean to sound insensitive or nasty but your question is kinda...............hmmmm.

Man I must of been in a less than agreeable mood yesterday...sorry.

I'd say if the cabin isn't an issue (the 31 is very spacious) go for the 31 w/500 or 525's. Great ride and better speed. To get the 358 in comparable mph's you would need 575's or up. The base price of the hull alone would let you customize the 31 to an extreme level. Then again, in bigger water ya' can't make up for hull length. Both ride very well...good luck
