I am paying $66.50/ month, 1k deductible through State Farm.

2002 31 496 Mags. They didn't ask speed, they just asked for total hp.

GO4BROKE 09-17-2003 06:49 PM

PE, I am also with State Farm.

Well, that makes me the biggest sucker....$2,700 for a 1988 Sonic 30, appraised 70K via Progressive.

No points, no problems, except the insurance! It used to be $600 when it only went 50 MPH with the old wimpy motors.

The boat is corporate owned, and it is a major hassle getting insurance. Most will not insur corp owned go fasts.

Any better insurance offers, feel free to email me:

Mine is through Blackadar, 50,000 value, and he said speed does not matter. My State Farm agent said they do not insure boats that go over 50. Better make sure your covered!!

I'm at $2400 w/ 168K hull and 7K trailer on the 575 boat. CBR try Sy Goldberg he should be able to help you.

mine is through Progressive its like $1000 but I'm only insured for 50K

CBR 09-20-2003 08:57 PM

Great thread! BTW Sy Goldberg will not insure older boats.

1999 26 Prowler, 500 EFI
$53K agreed.
$630/year.

Reese Scott; IMIS: out of MD. Underwriter is NMU. It is all in the agent/broker. Sy was twice what Reese got me. State Farm even beat Reese by $50, but I stayed so as not to keep all eggs in one basket.

Bottom line is not always what to look for...Coverage, limits, financial strength/reputation of insurer, etc. should all be included for purposes of purchase and especially this comparison thread to put everything in perspective.

National Marine Underwriters

I just paid $956 for my 2000 31SS $100K coverage w/ $1000 deductible, $5000 trailer w/$250 deductible, $300K Liability, $2500 Med pay, and $100 towing.

I got it through National Marine Underwriters Inc. in Annapolis MD.

You have to pay it all up front (ie. no payment plan).
