Smell of Gasoline in Bilge

Hi all,
I am new to Sonic. I recently filled my boat with fuel and noticed an odor of Gasoline in he cabin area afterwards. Has anyone had this or a similiar experience. The only thing I can figure is one of the hoses on the tanks might be loose. It this is the case it looks like 2,985 screws and you ca nlift the center floor panel to expose the fuel tanks?
Thanks for any input...

I forgot to say I live in Indian Head Maryland across from Tims's Rivershore. Any other Sonic owners in the area?

Thanks Again

Mike-
My 358 stays in Aquia Creek between Tims 1 and Tims 2. I also have a friend with a 358 w/ 750 Cobras. We party at Fairview and Gilligans alot.
As for the gas issue, I would first check the fuel hoses in the bilge, and the tank air vents which you can access from the head near the helm.

Check all your hose connections. I have access ports on the sides of the foot rests. to inspect the tank connections. You can also access the fills and vents from behind the dash. Then check by the fuel pick ups under the back seat. If these are all clean and dry then you may have a cracked fuel tank.

What size boat and what yr?

Thanks for the input. I think I might have figured it out. When I went down to the boat this afternoon, between storms, I noticed the vent was still dripping. So it appears the nozzle did not cut off till it was completely full... I went out and ran the boat for about a half an hour and the odor disapearred... Hopefully that was all it was..
To answer the above question, it is a 2000 358 with 502 EFI''s 28P Brave Props and it turns 5200 full of fuel and water one person. about 78 on the gps. Was kinda hard to read the GPS ths afternoon trying to keep below the raindrops.
Thanks for the information folks.

If you did not find the problem already check the screws that hold down the fuel sending unit. I have a 2001 358. There should be a small inspection panel with only 3 screws that hold in place, just in front of the rear seat. Sometimes the screws come loose and you will only leak or smell gas wwhen the tanks are full. Once you run some fuel out the gas will not get to the top of the tank.
