Re: Headliner Problems
Yep, mine had to be reglued to the top several years ago. Its a 1988 boat.
The fiberglass guy who did a fine job said it was a B%$# of a job too. Headliners in cars are the same...not fun to do. Can't tell you how it was done though. |
Re: Headliner Problems
The headliner in mine is foam backed. My hatch had been leaking, before I bought the boat, and the foam has desintigrated. I will be replacing ths winter.

Re: Headliner Problems
i have 1996 28-0 i did not like the front hatch so i removed it.also i had to replace the head liner. first remove all the trim moldings then peel it down in one piece it's easy untill all that foam backing that didn't release has to be removed.i used a small orbital sander what a mess.then i sent it over to the upholster and had him use the old one as a pattern.because of the width it had to be stiched.it came out fantastic.the other ugly part is the glue i used the adhesive they gave me i poured it in a spray gun masked everything and shot it.on some of the edges you will have to use a brush once the head liner is in stalled. it was well worth my time.

Re: Headliner Problems
Sonic28 did you put foam back up or directly to the glass? And also did you do the sides or just the top. This is looking like a big messy project.

Re: Headliner Problems
If it were a perfect world I could do that, but I can't so....... Gotta work with what I got.

Re: Headliner Problems
For the glue try using 3M's 8984 general adhesive remover. Watch out for the fumes :D:D. I would go to an upholstery shop and ask them for ideas to replace with. Either way it is as you said: "This is looking like a big messy project."
Good luck and let me know if you need any suggestions. |
