1994 31ss 7.4mag carb, best prop setup?

Boat currently has on the basic 3 blade 23" mirage props with the carb 7.4 mags. Has anyone ever tested props on the 31 with these motors? I was thinking that 24" bravo 1's would be the ticket for better out of the hole and would maintain the same top end. Thoughts? Experiences?

I have an '04 31 with the 496 HO's. I would think that the 24 would be the correct pitch, but it would be worth it to see if you could try a labbed 24 as well.

Usually if you go from a 3 blade to a 4 blade, you go down in pitch...not up. if the 3 blades are putting you at the correct RPM range, then you will more than likely need 22 pitch 4 blades. My 35 came with 24 pitch bravo's, and 25 pitch mirages. I am switching to hydromotives this year cause the boat ran a bit faster with them. So my bravo's are for sale, but i think they would be too big for you??

What Sonic did you buy ???

HP2, I'll keep you in mind if I go that route. I'm hoping someone here as already gone through this routine of 3 vs 4 blade on this setup.

94 31ss that was on boattrader located in Michigan...... I have a long list of work that has to be done. It's in great shape, engines and drives are virtually spotless, but I want to get it back into almost new condition and add a bunch of things, full enclosure, vacuflush head-will be interesting where to put the waste tank, some gelcoat work, new cabin door, carpet work, get trailer brakes working, etc, etc, etc..... it's got very little stress cracking and lot's of potential, just what I was looking for....

I have a 96 31ss with carbed 454 mags. The boat came with 23 mirage props on it and it hit the rev limiters so I now run 24 four blade bravos spins them to 5000 in the summer heat around 68-70 . I like the grip of the bravos much better. good luck

Thanks everyone! Yes, we have been waiting sometime for the right boat, we're very excited!

We boat all over the place, OCMD, Chesapeake, Raystown lake, NY, Smith Mountain, we have a gang of people that we trailer boat with.

24 bravo's... Thanks for the insight! I'll see how she does with the current props and see if it repeats your findings, if so, I'll check into a used set.

Before we hit the water, I have a long list of things to do first.

Anyone know what's under the cockpit carpet? Any access to the bilge under there? I want to get a waste tank installed for a vacuflush head, if it's possible.

Also, it has the morse(I think) controls with the throttles in the two center positions, think I would like the throttles to the outer two positions, can these be changed?

The cabin door is missing, any ideas on where to get one or do I have to go to Sonic directly?
