Calling Ken Viken

I remember you asking how you could get more out of your 5.3 in your silverado. I found this in the performance parts catalog. From my research it appears that the camshaft is out of a 6.0. I'm going to do it to my truck and let you know how it turns out. This upgrade will work in any 5.3 :D

Charlie, Was just thinking about you in that I may need some help with installing headers on the boat, if you're interested. 'Course I'll pay you a 'consulting fee'.:evilb:
This is good new about the cam. I just don't have enough torque to pull my boat. it does ok, but it could use a little more.
Keep me posted on the camsaft upgrade. Really interested in that. Thanks. Ken
How much for a new engine??

Tow-N-One 03-28-2007 02:34 PM

The engine is $2900, the camshaft itself is $300. I'm just going to put the cam in and see what difference it makes. Compairing all the part #'s, the cam is the only difference. Call me on the headers. 238-7449:D

kenvik01 03-28-2007 05:25 PM

Thanks, Charlie. I'll call you when I have the headers. May just have to buy the camshaft myself.

Mitch,
I've already installed headers, exhaust, stainless brakes, slotted rotors, etc., but you're correct. The tranny will be next. I do need a bigger truck, but right now.....
