Texoma Flood Report

Most other TX lakes are reporting the same kind of flooding. There is also some good info on Lake Lewisville.

Flood report curtesy of www.lakepirateforums.com member LP-1 link: http://www.lakepirateforums.com/Foru...c/t=10103.html

"I have talked with several marina owners and managers by phone and compiled a basic report.

They expect the lake to crest at 633 (average is 618, current 626) by the fourth assuming the rain stopped now. Based on that synopsis the distance under bridges won't allow most larger vessels to pass. With more rain predicted, this will only get worse.
Most marinas are shutting off their gas today. The constant rise of the lake has compromised the lines that carry fuel from the storage tanks to the gas docks. Only Little Glasses and Eisehower are expected to be selling fuel after today because they have a different fuel to dock configuration. Fuel will be a problem for most boaters.

As of right now, all boat ramps located in marinas are officially shut down. I don't know about the public ramp by the dam. I am unable to find information on it.

Pompano's is officially closed until after the lake subsides. They had planned on moving the festivities to a tent, but with rising lake levels and more rain, that idea is expected to be scrubbed some time today. Carlotta's Cantina WILL BE OPEN over the weekend but be careful if you have to travel under a bridge to get there. The roads to Carlotta's are fine and Bill says he will provide pontoon boats for all boathouse lessors to travel in and out of the marina. He has extended the catwalks to accomodate the high water and expects a good turnout this weekend. It's the only game in town.

All firework shows on the lake have been cancelled until further notice.

Debris is considered a major hazard and all boaters are asked to proceed with caution and only at idle speeds. Night cruising is NOT recommended but if you are out at night please have a large spot light on hand and proceed with the utmost care."

Thanks for the update Andy.

I`ll be at Possum Kingdom.

Last weekend, PK was great. It is definately full, but very little floating debris. I saw one tiny branch floating.
They are getting rain, just like everyone else, but the lake is not flooded, nor will The Brazos River Authority allow it to flood. They will open the gates before the lake is in a flooded stage.
I`ll be there all week.

TexomaPowerboater 06-29-2007 09:42 AM

You be careful out there on the water Don. I wouldn't take the python out in those waters - she just can't turn that fast if you get up to speed and find a tree in your path.

PurpleStuff 06-29-2007 09:52 AM

im hearing that eagle mountain in ft. worth is flooded the least in the north central texas area...

ill be able to report back in a few hours as that is where i am headed...

PurpleStuff 06-29-2007 09:55 AM

the ramp at the dam on texoma should be completely underwater at this time. if you must launch, highport marina is accessible and always will be.

TX_Instigator 06-29-2007 10:14 AM

I heard yesterday that Highport was already closed. Not from just the high water but also the roads and ramp are tore up. This is from a guy that lives out there.

OffshoreOnly 06-29-2007 10:23 AM

does anyone have pics of the high water around highport marina?

tomtbone1993 06-29-2007 10:51 AM

I heard from a Buddy this morning. He said Lake Travis has been closed for 2 days. He said another 2 feet and the water will be in his house:(

Just spoke to my sister-in-law at PK. The lake is about as full as it can get, but no flooding. The private ramp at her house is usable, as well as all the public ramps. The water looks like coffee with creamer, but gets more clear as you go toward dam. They have not seen debris in the lake, but you know there is some.

Keep in mind these pics were taken when the water was at 624.88 on Wednesday. Its rising at about 1-2ft per day and right now is at 628.73. I'm guessing the water is up to the roof by now.

exhawk... isnt the water 8 or more ft. higher at this point?

there is another 5 days of rain in the forecast...

btw, eagle mountain is at the perfect level! another 2 foot would be a completely different story, but their flood gates are OPEN!

PurpleStuff 07-02-2007 11:16 AM

The lake is going up about 1.5-2ft per day and supposed to crest at 640 on July, 9th, which is over the spillway. My whole summer is ruined

I'm too lazy to post pics so tell that old guy to get off his azz and visit www.lakepirateforums.com if he wants to see daily flood pics.

FYI - the roof of highport will be at the water by today.

txspeedfreak 07-02-2007 01:32 PM

Where to go?

Can't launch at Texoma either...even at Highport. Where can we launch at Eagle Mountain? (50 ft. trailer) Last time there we had to go to the Boat Club...stick boats didn't like that too much. Are the fireworks still on there on the 4th at the FW Boat Club?

Thanks, Karl:(

Ive seen some 38s launch at Marine Quest, on the sw side next to the old Lauderdales or Kellys floatin resturaunt. Lake Country has the best ramp. Not sure about a day pass. West bay on the Azle side has a descent ramp, however they set up bleachers and they all hoop and holler at people loading their boats after the fireworks. Firewks still on as far as I know.

PurpleStuff 07-02-2007 08:36 PM

eagle mountain can handle your trailer at kellys ramp, but i think the club area is out of business. there was a for lease sign up this past weekend.

you can launch at highport! all you have to do is do it!

Last I heard, the water is projected to go over the dam on July 4 at about noon. There was more rain there today so it could happen sooner. Here is the latest official information for today.

So, between 1am this morning and 5pm this evening it has risen 1.2 feet. The flood gates are still closed as far as I can tell. They said they will open them when it goes over the spillway and have warned everyone downstream to get any equipment or livestock out of the area.

Thankfully, our boat is in dry storage on ground high enough that if it floods there, there will be much bigger problems to be concerned with. Looks like this year is going to be a "wash" for us boating ... LITERALLY!!!!!!!

Probably going up to take a look at things tomorrow just to make sure we don't need to do something with the boat. I'll take some pictures if we do.

PurpleStuff 07-05-2007 12:00 AM

floodgates are open and the water is about, by the looks of it, one foot from the top of the spillway...

TexomaPowerboater 07-30-2007 09:27 PM

If were lucky we may be able to boat on Labor Day

Pretty good, but not so good article by the Dallas Morning News.

A Plano father and son were killed July 7 when they tried to jump from a cliff into the lake's swollen waters.
