Thanks for the picture, Clay. I was told today that my spot and the one next to me are the only spots not under water, at least for today since the water is going to go up another 2+ feet by Monday. |

Ban on recreational boating expected to continue through July 4th holiday on Lake Travis | Floodgate operations to continue for weeks |
Yep. it's true. With more rain in the forecast, I expect the lakes to be closed next weekend too! :(
|
Thanks for the pictures... I've been looking for some... I knew it was bad but WOW!

Clay, Can you get to your boat without swimming to the walkway?
These pictures do not really let you see how high the water is unless you know where the normal level is. I just remember it is a long walk up from the marina to the top of the hill when the lake is at normal height Good news is the last 2+ hrs the water has not gone up. We might be peaking. |

Lake Travis at 700 feet and still rising!
Lake Travis has topped 700 feet above mean sea level and may rise another foot today based on rain that has already fallen. After the Hill Country received scatterd showers overnight, LCRA officials continue to closely monitor weather conditions that could cause more rain that eventually would feed into the lake.
Note - 681 is considered "full". We are 19 feet above flood stage! :( http://www.lcra.org/images/masthead/lcra_logo.gif |

Travis was at 665 ft when the picture was taken last May. Level dropped to 643 in December and now the lake is at 701..... almost a 60ft rise from the attached photo. the houses in the background are probably under water.

Just for the record this is all Bush's fault......when will Fema get there???

Lake Travis at 701 and Still Rising!
Lake Travis forecast to reach between 702-703 feet msl
Runoff into the Colorado River from this week's rains continues to drive up the forecasted peak of Lake Travis. LCRA now predicts that Lake Travis will peak between 702 and 703 feet above mean sea level, based on rain that has already fallen. Its level at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday was 701.02 feet. The lake, formed by Mansfield Dam, was built to hold back water during times of flood. Fluctuations in its level are expected. The revised forecasted peak for Lake Travis comes after heavy rains pelted part of the Hill Country on Tuesday and as forecasters carefully monitored a large area of rain that had developed southeast of Austin on Wednesday. Early Wednesday, LCRA reopened a third floodgate at Buchanan Dam — the northernmost dam along the Highland Lakes chain. With the forecast of more rain, be advised: If there is much additional rain, at a time when the lakes and river are already full, changes to floodgate operations may be made with little or no notice. Runoff from additional rain would continue to feed into Lake Travis — the primary flood control reservoir in the Highland Lakes chain. More rain could change lake level forecasts and operational plans. |

I sure feel for you guys. I watched as Katrina ripped the roof off our place and then Rita pushed floodwater into it just to rub a little salt in the wound. A 60' water level differential @ Travis from last May is just unbelievable. Hang in there, better times are ahead. Somethings gotta give soon with this weather.

Lake Travis peaks early Friday morning at 701.52 feet msl
LCRA closed a second floodgate at Buchanan Dam after 8 a.m. Friday morning as flows into Lake Buchanan continued to decrease. One floodgate remains open at Buchanan Dam, the northernmost dam along the Highland Lakes chain.
Lake Travis appeared to peak early Friday morning shortly after midnight at 701.52 above mean seal level (msl). LCRA forecasts that Lake Travis will remain 700 feet msl through the weekend, based on rain that has already fallen. At 7:15 a.m., the level of Lake Travis was 701.42 feet msl. The lake, formed by Mansfield Dam, was built to hold back water during times of flood. Fluctuations in its level are expected. |
