Lake Travis is Dropping
Lake Travis is down to 696 (from a high of 701), and still dropping.
I plan to be back on the water by Saturday, July 21st. :D |
Note to Jack...
I measured the debris at the West Beach Marina office. At the flood's crest, the water was 25 inches at the front door of the office building! |
Thats not too bad. At Texoma's crest Eisenhower's marina office, which was the last one in operation, was sitting in 6ft of water. Its going to have to be completely gutted. I don't know how long its going to take them to get going again, but I'm optimistic. I just got a bill from them - wish that would of gotten washed away in the flood:D

There is talk that Lake Travis might open this Saturday (7/14). If it does, I do not plan to go out until Saturday, July 21st.
I'm gonna let the bacteria levels drop before I get back on the water! |
Planing on being there this weekend. Bob is not sure the power will be able to be turned on by then so will be staying down the road. I was told they got the club house cleaned up today.
Clay, thanks for the update. Does anyone know when the grave yard comes out from under the water? |

I believe around 688 or so. But don't quote me on that. |

Lake is now open , my boat/marina are still unreachable,
havent been able to get to my boat in 3 weeks now. I wouldnt go on the lake anyways right now, walking around the lake in front of my house I have seen countless stumps, huge limbs and even a telephone pole floating just under the surface. some people have zero brains,I already heard 4-5 big powerboats flying down the lake this afternoon. Same guys that will be crying tommorow after they lose an outdrive or sink the boat.. Guess money cant buy smarts.. _________________________________ LCRA.ORG quote: LCRA reopened Lake Travis to recreation at 1 p.m. today but cautioned boaters to continue to watch for debris and other hazards that may damage watercraft or injure people. Boaters beware: It's not the same lake “It’s not quite the same lake that it was before the flood,” Bradle said. “While much of the debris is gone, some still remains, especially just below the lake’s surface, and it could be hazardous to watercraft and people.” LCRA staff is still replacing on Lake Travis some channel markers and buoys that were moved or lost during the flood. “Boaters need to exercise caution, as some navigational channels and hazards may not be marked,” Bradle said. Bradle added that boaters should avoid creating wakes at Graveyard Point, the subdivision that is the first to be inundated when Lake Travis is in its flood pool. At elevation 686 feet msl, most of the houses at Graveyard Point are out of the water. “But many houses are still at the water’s edge and could be further damaged by wakes created by boats,” Bradle said. |
