Thinking About Knoxville, TN
What can you tell me about the area? I'm going next week to check things out.
|
I think Tennessee is a great state and have thought of moving there myself. I trailered a boat from Chatanooga. Lots of valleys and bluffs and rivers in between. The lake I was on had a 45mph speed limit, but I didn't care - it was a test drive. The people there are some of the utmost friendly people I have ever met. The boating is second to none. You can drive to the gulf of mexico or the atlantic, freshwater or saltwater. A reasonable cost of living.
If I was going to go somewhere - thats were it would be. |
Nashville is better but K-town is almost as good!

What makes nashville better? Not a big club and party guy (rather do that on the lake). Looking for a small town feel but still with some employment or business opportunities. |
Both cities have lots of water nearby (actually IN town). Economy in both is good, but have to give a nod to NashVegas for economy/lifestyle.
If we can help you, let us know. Regards, Steve |
Nashville is booming economy wise. We're like you.. like to do our partying on the lake!
|
you could split difference I commute to cookeville (100 miles one way) its right in the middle of the two cities couldn't find nicer people and got dale hollow to north. still has small town values I forgot center hill is to the south
|
I would agree that the people from both areas are as nice and genuine as you'll find anywhere. I went to college with people from both Knoxville and Nashville and everyone was great. I wouldn't think finding good employment opportunities would be difficult in either area. Good luck!

I'll attach some pictures of the river front down by Neyland Stadium when I get a chance to re-size them. |
I enjoy Knoxville. Nashville is great as well. I don't think one is really better than the other. It really depends on what you like to do.
I went to School at Tennessee Tech so I spent my fair share of time in Nashville. |
I live in Nashville and agree with most of what's been said on here. Nashville probably has more "going on" and thing to do but I don't know if you could find an area in the country more beautiful than the Knoxville and East Tennessee area. While I prefer Nashville if job or other influence forced it I wouldn't be upset about having to live in Knoxville.
Good Luck |
I was born and raised in Knoxville and lived in Nashville for 36 years. I drive by 5 lakes on the way to Lake Cumberland. I am exactly 500 miles from my house to the launch ramp in Pensacola. I have been in all 50 states and have not found any other state I would rather live in. Also we do not have an income tax but sales tax is almost 10%. PM me if you come to Nashville and we can check out some of the local lakes.
