Default Boat Interior in Texas

As title says, looking for someone to do my cabin of my 38’ Top Gun. I had Fineline in Fla do cockpit, but man I’m not a fan of that drive. I’m in Kemah south of Houston. I’m will to drive for quality with that actually gets done when promised. Thanks

good luck finding real high quality around houston for a boat
im here at hobby and do lots of restos,,,
mike at fine line is awsome but been times waited up to a yr to get seats made and sent back
locally is 5 star upholstry there in league city by u,,,,
he did the interior for last skater i redid in 2021
quality is ok,,,,for his """old pricing"""",,,
did some of the 32 hustler i just got going this summer
and now the full interior of a 28 skater in finish stage of hull up resto
and he charged me stupid prices for the seats 8 months ago
and just picked up the 3 gunnel panels the other day and fainted on price
and i built the panels to fit boat/routed all edges, sealed with resin /and installed all the mounting studds on the panels
just needed foam and vinyl,,,,,and was charge almost double for same panel design from previous 28
so was not happy for descent work at high end pricing,,,,,good guy but ,,,,told 1 price day before and charged 1/3 more next day picking up
as my customer paid over phone,,,,and when looked at invoice there was added charges
and even was a 95.00 cc charge added,,,,huh,,,,,talk about gouging,,,395.00 added to the bill over price told day before and job was done when told price
and i drop off prepped parts just for upholstry and pick up and install myself ,,,
i know where im going back to for that same price,,,,,fineline,,,,
heres the 28 from 2 yrs ago,,,turned out nice ,,,priced right for the upholstry work quality
so does good work ,,,,but the price i just paid the other day,,,was way overpriced
for the 28 im doing now was way up there for the lil less quality to the double pricing

I agree with Johnmiffco, there no real good upholstery shops in the greater Houston area (at least that I have found). However, there is a little shop in Conroe by the lake that has been there for a long time. I haven't used them yet, but I am going to this winter just for a small repair to a cabin seat. Have heard good things about them, so I'm going to see how they do on a small repair before I get a big job done. I did stop by last year and talk to them and was impressed enough that I'm going back. I don't remember what price he quoted, but it wasn't very much for them to R&R the seat. Place is called Santa Cruz Upholstery on Hwy 105 (west of IH45). They are always busy working on boat interiors at their shop.

I'm going to stop by again, next time I'm up at the boat (next week, I hope) and see if I can get a timeline for repair before I pull the couch out to take to them. Hopefully, take a look at some of their work again.

Just curious, but are you going to take the boat to someone or are you going to pull the interior and re-install yourself? Not sure if they have the room to park a 38 ft boat on their lot.

Good if you seen finished product from Santa Cruz. I've just seen it in progress. I'll see if he has anything in the works and will try to get a few pics.

I'd like to update mine, but evidently they don't make a light gray anymore (called Frost). I'll probably have to have mine redone in white, unless I can source some NOS gray material from somewhere.
Shoot a few pics of the 32 interior if you can.
Where are you located?

As I said, Fineline did my cockpit. I didn’t take the boat to him, just had everything shipped to him. Came out great. Now, for the cabin, the material needs to be glued to ceiling and walls, so I’d have to take boat to the person doing it. ****ty part is, I’ll pay good money, for good work, but no shop to be found.
