Termites in a boat?

Has anyone ever seen or heard of termites in a boat.
I was looking at a 27' Fountain in Houston, Tx and I swear there was termites?
To my knowledge all they need is water and wood.

Thanks for any input
Jason

I've never heard of such, but I don't see why not. There would have to be somewhere for them to get in - like a crack in the fiberglass

Yes, my dads best friend has a center console Fountain that had to have over 14K in repairs to fix damage from termites.

Thanks for the conformation of my assumption.

YES, I HAVE. THEY WILL DESTROY THE ENTIRE BOAT IF NOT TREATED. THE MOST EFFECTED WAY TO TREAT THE BOAT WOULD BE TO HAVE A LISCENSED PEST CONTROL OPERATOR FUMIGATE THE BOAT. IF YOU NEED SOME CONTACTS TO GET THIS DONE JUST LET ME KNOW! [email protected]
