Actually 502's are what I'd prefer. Tell me more about your 502's and throw me some numbers. Hard to beat the 496's warranty, smartcraft monitoring, and lower maintenance. I also like being able to just plug in a diagnostic. In a perfect world I'd buy some 502MAG's 415hp, but they don't make them anymore. I'm not out to win any races, but I want to do it once and do it right. I just want a reliable package that will last 500+ hours.

I did price out a chief 502 415hp built motor.....12.5K carbed, 16K efi, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I think the old engines may be worth a little. The block is still good - I don't think its ever been bored out, Stainless marine exhaust and 850 holleys are still good. Heads and intake are junk.

andy i dont see why you just cant use your old blocks and build a set of reliable motors from them and use the good parts. would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new ones. my motor guys is amazing and really reasonable.. or i will sell you my blower motors and we can really make that apache really fly! they only have 60 hours and are extremely reliable. might wanna upgrade the driveline tho?!?

Nice October Saturday on Texoma. Water was nice. The black boat broke a drive early. He was a trooper and made the rounds on the way home on one.

If you guys from the other "BS Thread" are reading this. This is what pictures of our boats in the water look like.
